The Niken ‘Dear Chicago’ pack was designed by select Chicago boutiques and the Nike design team. I was part of SVRN’s team members that helped lead the design. We took the Nike design members around the city of Chicago and introduced them to various things we felt made the city what it was. I was able to bring the team to a youth creative center that stressed to them how important community is to our city. I also took them on an architecture tour that inspired the story behind the two shoes: Chicago during and after the Great Chicago Fire. The Air Max represents the growth of the city into the modern, skyscraper conglomerate it is today. The Air Max represents the city going through the fire with cow print accents and red tones. Together, the two silhouettes tell a story of strength, rebirth and community. I was honored to help design these shoes. I was also included in the promotional video content for the shoes on the Nike SNKRS app.
